What is Affirmation Yoga?

Affirmations are used in classes to inspire transformation and cultivate positive habits, such as self-exploration, growth, compassion and love.

Affirmation yoga is a practice of intentional words and mantras aimed at leading the student to a higher level of understanding or awareness. Through this practice, affirmations are used in classes to inspire transformation and cultivate positive habits, such as self-exploration, growth, compassion and love. Affirmations combined with yoga asanas can bring about a transformation that extends beyond our practice on the mat; helping create more resilience, joy and inner peace in our daily life.

An example of affirmation yoga is setting an intention from the ten values of Yama Niyama: truthfulness (satya), cleanliness (saucha), surrender (Ishvara Pranidhana), etc. By utilizing mantra or affirmations such as ‘I am safe, I am grounded’ one can empower their students to experience deeper self-awareness and emotional liberation.
